Learning - Early Learning Unit

The Early Learning Unit at Colac South West welcomes and guides the youngest members of our learning community. It is the Early Learning Unit in which our students begin their learning journey and is therefore, a hub of excitement, curiosity and stimulation.

The Early Learning Unit is where students in Prep to Year Two develop the building blocks for learning in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. Teachers in the Early Learning Unit work together to ensure all students from Prep to Year Two receive an individualised program which recognises and caters for their personal learning needs. It is our aim to create a space for children to engage with learning in a dynamic and creative way.

Our spacious and open classrooms provide opportunities for students to work with both their teachers and peers in a variety of methods suited to the diverse needs of our children. The students have access to a wide variety of resources which scaffold them in their learning, including access to laptops and classroom computers. Our students are engaged in all areas of the curriculum, with a particular focus on Literacy and Numeracy.

In addition to these core areas, students attend Art, P.E. and Indonesian classes weekly and enjoy a comprehensive and complementary specialist program. Students in the Early Learning Unit are provided with many opportunities to develop the skills that will propel them through their primary school years. They learn and develop the keys for successful learning in a friendly, caring and respectful environment.
