Colac south west primary school
Selamat Datang! (Welcome)
At Colac South West Primary School, students from Prep to Year 6 are provided with the opportunity to learn about Indonesian language and culture. The language program has been running successfully at our school for more than fifteen years.
Through participation and engagement in learning another language, students:
* increase their ability to think and reflect about the workings of language
* develop mental flexibility and problem-solving strategies
* develop interpersonal skills and cultural awareness (Department of Education 2007).
Learning a language in Primary school provides students with a solid foundation for continuing their language and cultural education in High school.
Throughout their time at Colac South West Primary School, students will develop their language skills and understanding of Indonesian culture through a variety of activities such as language games, stories, role-plays, craft, videos and songs. They will learn about the pronunciation, intonation and body language of native speakers of Indonesia and use the language in situations and activities related to their own environment, for example, self, family, home, classroom and community.
We look forward to working with your child/children and hope to create a passion for learning about Indonesia.
Salam hangat (kind regards),
